I recently met with the Undergraduates of Canadian Research Intensive Universities. They represent over 250,000 students from U15 universities that annually conduct $8.5 billion of research and contribute more than $36 billion to our economy.
Like most students I meet with in Spadina-Fort York, there is a shared concern: crippling student debt. The average lifetime interest on a Canada Student Loan is $3,000. Due to the pandemic, the government waived the interest for two years. More must be done.
I call on the government to permanently eliminate interest on Canada Student Loans and Canada Apprentice Loans.

I rose in the House of Commons to ask the government *when* they will permanently eliminate interest on Canada Student Loans and Canada Apprentice Loans, which will save student borrowers an average of at least $3,000 in interest over the lifetime of their loan.
