Fighting for arts support

The Canadian arts community has been decimated. Hearing from performing artists about the seriousness of their situation, I rose in the House of Commons to yet again call on the government to urgently take action.

The arts community is an integral part of our economy.

When you support the arts, you support local small businesses.
When you support the arts, you support Canadian tourism.
When you support the arts, you support Canadian jobs and culture.

While the additional funding by the government via the Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund was a positive step for sector resilience, we are far from the end of this crisis. We cannot afford to wait.

Because the price of inaction is not just on Canadian art and culture, which I would suggest is priceless, the price of inaction will mean jobs lost, local businesses devastated, and foregone tax revenue.

This is why I repeated my call to the government to convene a national conference on the future of art:
